The Board meet 4 times a year plus AGM annually and communicate between meetings where necessary – approximate time commitment is 1 day a month.

Help to Claim (Universal Credit) Adviser

Contract:       12 months initially, subject to funding

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Citizens Advice Ipswich as a ‘Help to Claim’ adviser based at 19 Tower Street, Ipswich.  This role is to provide a professional advice service to enable clients understand the eligibility criteria and help them to progress with their initial application for Universal Credit, up to and including the first accurate payment having been made.  You will be providing client support over the phone, via webchat, email and ‘face to face’ at Tower Street or potentially at outreach locations, such as Ipswich Jobcentre, as needed.

To be successful in this role you will be able to work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, exhibit excellent listening and questioning skills and to present and conduct yourself in a professional and courteous manner with all clients seeking support.  You will have the ability to advise clients as appropriate to their own situation, enabling them to progress their Universal Credit claim in the most appropriate way.

You will be liaising with contacts within the DWP to find resolutions for escalated issues and you will understand the importance of security and data protection to ensure all data is protected in line with GDPR legislation.  You will have a good standard of numeracy to perform benefit check calculations to aid the advice process and be proficient in the use of computer packages with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.  You will have an open and friendly demeanour and be able to work as part of a diverse team.

Citizens Advice Ipswich Outreach Adviser

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Generalist Advisers to join Citizens Advice Ipswich’s new ‘Connect for Health’ team, which will be providing generalist advice to clients through appointments in General Practitioners surgeries throughout the Ipswich area. The roles will be based in the Ipswich area and report to the Outreach Manager.

As an Outreach Adviser you will be working in GP surgeries throughout Ipswich, providing advice, help and support to clients referred to you by medical professionals. You will be part of an emerging team and will have the opportunity to help shape the new service provision ensuring that the high standards of Citizens Advice and our values and aims are delivered in a timely manner.

You will be a confident, self-driven and self-motivated individual with recent experience as a trained generalist adviser or have the ability to undertake intensive training to reach the required standard within minimum timescales. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to self-manage your workload and time. You will have a passion for making a difference in the communities where we have a presence by providing a top quality service for the people of Ipswich.

Citizens Advice Ipswich is looking to recruit a ‘Community Connector’ to assist clients to enabling them to be able to navigate statutory systems, organisations and use facilities in the community effectively.

In this busy role you will be responsible for supporting the clients in the GP surgery who need additional help and support to build their confidence in navigating both statutory bodies and the local community. This will involve on occasion taking Client’s to different locations around the Ipswich area. The role will monitor the Wellbeing of Clients via the Warwick and Edinburgh Wellbeing Score and maintain an up-to-date catalogue of all the groups and organisation within the Ipswich and surrounding area that assist with people’s general wellbeing.

A friendly disposition and computer literacy are essential alongside good communications skills. You will have responsibility for handling personal data and the integrity of IT systems, so it is essential that you have an eye for detail.

The ideal person will be enthusiastic and customer-focused. You will have the ability to identify and support clients’ needs and be able to build their confidence; therefore excellent communication skills and patience are a must. Ipswich Citizens Advice is looking for a well organised Energy Project Adviser to join our rapidly expanding Money Advice Services Team.

The post holder will carry out (predominantly) telephone based energy assessments and provide advice to clients who are referred to us by our partner organisation. This work may include tasks such as identifying grants, arranging specialist appointments, helping them to switch supplier or tariffs.

A clear and confident telephone manner is essential for this role and, although not essential, it would be preferable for the post holder to have some knowledge or experience in the areas of either energy, money, debt, welfare, advice, law, housing, or benefits.

The post holder will also receive recognised training, support and supervision to enable them to provide more in-depth casework and advice to our clients as the project demands.
