Helping clients to help others

Helping clients to help others

*Julie has recently taken on the responsibility of her friend’s children on top of her own after her friend passed away. Money is very tight.
While the benefits and other support are being sorted out, Julie has run out of money for food and heating. The children also need clothing, but again, she lacks the funds to do this.

The Job Centre suggested that she come to us for emergency support while they adjust her benefits claim. Since this is not a new claim she is not entitled to funding straight away.

We helped her apply for food, fuel and Local welfare support and the adviser said: “Julie* was very grateful, burst into tears and hugged me, thanking me.”
