Volunteers are vital to our service. If you have a few hours a week to spare and want to make a real difference, we’re always looking for volunteers at Citizens Advice Ipswich to help clients get the information and advice they need.
The right advice can change someone’s life and you could make a real difference by joining our friendly team.
Whether you want to enhance your CV, gain new skills and knowledge or give something back to your community, our volunteer roles come with full training to help our clients in Ipswich overcome problems such as benefits, money problems, family issues and employment.

Join our Trustee Board
Citizens Advice Ipswich is looking for new members to join our Trustee Board. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with senior management experience to take on the role of People Management Portfolio Holder, as well as additional Trustees to strengthen our Board.
Citizens Advice Ipswich helps approximately 10,000 clients each year, dealing with around 30,000 individual issues. These include charitable support, debt, benefits and tax credits, employment, relationship matters, and housing issues. Alongside our core generalist advice service, we deliver a number of specialist projects. These services are provided by 36 paid staff and around 40 volunteers, who do an amazing job supporting some of the most vulnerable people in Ipswich and the surrounding districts.
We are entering an extremely busy and exciting period, with demand for our services higher than ever before. We are also seeking to attract new funding through innovative initiatives and partnerships. Citizens Advice Ipswich is a well-managed organisation with robust finances, and we have recently undergone a restructure to modernise and improve the way we deliver our services.
The Trustee Board shapes the charity’s strategy and provides overall direction. It supports and monitors the management team, acts as the employer for paid staff, ensures compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and oversees the charity’s finances. To support this work, each Trustee holds a portfolio of responsibilities, and we are looking to strengthen the Board through the recruitment of new members.
The Board generally meets in the evening, making it possible to fit volunteering around full-time or part-time work commitments.
